When choosing non-renewable resources, take into account the effects of the production and use of the resource:

  • Non-renewable resources are not cost effective in the long term. 
  • They are not healthy for the environment, and things like coal mines affect areas such as the Great Barrier Reef.
  • They emit greenhouse gasses that ruin the ozone layer and result in increased global temperatures (Global warming).
  • Coal, oil and natural gas are used so heavily to fuel cars and make electricity, these resources do not replenish meaning one day they will run out.
